Last weekend RB and my good self popped over to see the lovely Chris and Annina, now residing in sunny Zurich, Switzerland.

Saturday night, our congenial hosts booked us an area at City Beach - a fake beach on top of an eight-storey car park in an industrial-looking area, north/northwest Zurich. It's a pop-up bar and the Saturday we went there was the first Saturday of the summer. The venue and the weather did not disappoint. The food was a mixed bag, of raw and cooked meat...
On arriving we scoped out the Burn girls, in black catsuits a la Olivia Neuter John, ("tell me about it, stud!" - I can't remember who, Chris or Robi, was responsible for that gem you had to be there though...), and the somewhat ramshackle food stall. To my delight there was what looked like a Steak Tartare sitting on a pretty plate in a rotating glass cabinet - very very twee, especially for such a painfully trendy place.
With Annina's help (the menu was in German) I managed to order the Steak Tartare. To my slight surprise, the girl plucked out the Steak Tartare that was in the display cabinet and presented it to me. I was a tad reticent, but duly accepted it. How long it had been spinning around, flesh on display, I do not know. It came with caper berries, sliced plum tomatoes, gherkins, olives, sliced onion and crusty bread. It was my first Steak Tartare. Surrounded by cranes and city views of Zurich I tucked into the raw burger-shaped slab of beef and spices and thoroughly enjoyed it.
I also ordered a Chicken burger (see photo above), which came with fried egg as standard - Chicken and Egg, nice combo. The Chicken burger was slightly less than 'OK': low grade reconstituted chicken in breadcrumbs. The egg sort of made up for it, but to be frank it was a bit of shocker for what it cost - quite literally an arm and a leg... Chris' meat skewer looked like the best 'main' option and the jacket potatoes with sour cream were pretty hearty too. I think they should of tried harder with the burger, but I suppose it's quite fashionable to serve up burgers that wreak of 'budget' these days...
